Second Amendment Attacks Continue

Former White House Chief of Staff and current Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel made the following statement regarding gun laws last week:

There is a need for common-sense laws that provide the residents of our cities with the safety they deserve.”

Emanuel’s idea of “common-sense” laws: a complete ban on the possession, delivery, sale and transfer of semiautomatic rifles and handguns.

This is the measure that was recently approved by the Illinois Public Health Committee — and if it becomes law, it will restrict about 75% of handguns and 50% of long guns in circulation today.

And what of the criminals who almost always use unregistered firearms purchased on the streets?

Well, obviously they wouldn’t be complying with the law.

The First Guy I’d Rob

Some people just don’t get it…

Last weekend I attended a dinner party in Northern Virginia. Greg, the host of the party, welcomed about 30 friends to his very expensive home in a gated community. We had some wine, munched on some very tasty hors d’oeuvres, and discussed everything from old movies to current events.

Inevitably, someone brought up the recent Newtown tragedy. To be honest, I didn’t want to discuss it at all. But I couldn’t bite my tongue when Greg went off on this crazy anti-gun diatribe…

“Why does anybody need a gun these days? If you have a problem, you call the police. It’s that simple.”

What an idiot! I tell ya, if I were a criminal, he’d be the first guy I’d rob. Completely clueless in his gated community world, Greg truly believes law enforcement officers are the only folks that should be allowed to carry guns. He actually said that.

So before I lost my cool, I politely said my goodbyes. I just can’t associate with people who say such ludicrous things. To be frank, it’s people like him that I find to be the greatest threat to this nation — not Islamic terrorists or North Korean dictators. At least I know what to expect with those guys.

But with Greg and others like him, they vote. And that’s what makes their attitudes about the Second Amendment so menacing…

Especially with so many lawmakers out to gut the Second Amendment these days.

Exposing Their Agenda

Following the recently approved, and unconstitutional measure in Chicago, Todd Vandermyde of the National Rifle Association said he had never seen a piece of legislation that tramples on so many court decisions.

In response to that, the bill’s sponsor, Senator Antonio Munoz, made the following statement:

For everyone that says that we’re taking away their rights, well then go to the range.”

Is this guy serious?

Well if that’s the case, let’s just say that for anyone who wants to exercise free speech, they can just go to a debate hall, pay an admission fee, and have at it. Or for those who don’t want to be subjected to an illegal search and seizure, they can just live in a glass house so law enforcement doesn’t have to actually enter the premises.

How ridiculous does that sound?

To suggest that responsible gun owners be restricted to the range is so insulting it’s almost laughable. Almost.

But there’s nothing funny about creating a law that would disarm law-abiding gun owners and restrict their ability to protect their homes and their families. It is not only irresponsible — it’s illegal!

Fortunately, this particular bill lost the support it would’ve needed to pass. But that doesn’t mean the members of the Illinois Public Health Committee that voted to approve the measure are taking their ball and going home.

They’ll continue to do everything in their power to weaken and dismantle the Second Amendment. So we must be just as vigilant about exposing them and their treasonous agenda.
