Have you heard about robotic exoskeletons? Outside of Terminator, that is. Quantum International Corp. (PINK: QUAN) is leading the way in marketing robotic exoskeletons, and they’re discovering that its medical applications are merely the tip of the iceberg.

From the Herald Online:

“The medical market is only the beginning for bionic exoskeletons,” said Quantum CEO Robert Federowicz. “As we conduct our due diligence on the potential for this technology, we’re discovering demand for robotic augmentation from diverse industries from construction to the military.”

These metal frames currently enable wheelchair-bound people to stand up, walk, and enhance their mobility. However, they may also find broader application in heavy industries and war zones, allowing workers and soldiers to function safely in unfriendly environments for longer, and—in a more fantastic vein—in extreme sports, where such exoskeletons might transform games to a whole new level.

Last week, Quantum entered into an arrangement with the University of Houston to begin collaborations with a research team that is currently developing an external brain-machine interface. The objective could result in users operating a Rex Bionics robotic exoskeleton solely by using their thoughts.

Quantum International Corp. deals primarily in robotics research and development, and it is positioning itself to develop and market precision robotics on a global scale.
