I’m not a big fan of amateurs taking up their guns to fight crime.
Truth is, if you’re well-armed, and people know it, it’s rare that you have to do much more than remind folks of how you regularly exercise your second amendment rights.
And quite frankly, there are just too many people out there with chips on their shoulders, looking for a reason to shoot somebody. It’s sad, but true.
The point is, as an unapologetic supporter of the second amendment, it makes me crazy to see gun owners act irresponsibly by not practicing emotional control, basic gun safety or parading around town with their guns as if they were new pieces of jewelry.
Guns are not toys. And those who treat them as such are no better than the politicians that seek to take them from responsible gun owners.
That being said, I must admit that I was very pleased to hear about a small group of concerned citizens in Georgia who did a little community policing the other day and cornered an armed robbery suspect.
Fortunately, no one was hurt, and the robbery suspect was surrounded by armed locals before the police showed up to apprehend him.
