Hello and welcome back to Investing After Hours — our Wealth Daily podcast dedicated to helping everyday investors navigate major investing trends. Our team of experts has specialized knowledge in a variety of investing methods.

And we broadcast this knowledge from our office above the Baltimore harbor.

I am your host, Alexandra Perry — the research director at Wealth Daily.

A few weeks ago, it was leaked that Apple was busy working on its next big device: an augmented reality (AR) headset.

This headset, and the landmark technology behind it, will very likely usher in the next generation of consumer electronics. With augmented reality, consumers will be able to couple the real world with technology. Imagine having the Google Maps directions you're following projected onto the street in front of you... Picture interacting with the augmented reality version of a friend who lives 2,000 miles away...

We are talking about a technology so groundbreaking that it will likely end its modern counterpart: the smartphone.

In today's Investing After Hours, Wealth Daily's senior technology analyst Jason Stutman joins us to talk about the leak and how investors could start profiting from Apple's augmented reality project.

Jason dissects both augmented reality and virtual reality (VR), emphasizing the differences between the two markets in order to show why investors should be paying attention to augmented reality.

The combined market value of the two sectors is expected to hit $215 billion by 2022. Right now, we're just entering the period of massive growth:

That being said, the majority of that value is expected to come from augmented reality, which is much more commercially applicable than virtual reality.

Yet, even with multiple companies rushing to capitalize on augmented reality, Apple is the only company with a potential product. Not only that, but Apple is also expecting to bring its augmented reality device on line as early as 2019, meaning that now is the time to start investing.

In this podcast, Jason also talks about a pick-and-shovel company that could potentially be a major supplier of Apple's and its new augmented reality glasses.

In fact, he's put together an entire presentation just to show investors the possibility behind this $5 tech stock.

You may view that presentation here.
