Wealth Daily Podcast Talks Tesla's Future
Hello and welcome back to Investing After Hours — our Wealth Daily podcast that's dedicated to helping everyday investors navigate major investing trends. Our team of experts has specialized knowledge in a variety of investing methods.
And we broadcast this knowledge from our office above the Baltimore harbor.
I am your host, Alexandra Perry, the research director at Wealth Daily.
Welcome to Episode Number 10: Is Tesla a Good Investment?
Considering the amount of Tesla bickering that happens in our Wealth Daily office, it only seems fair to do a podcast talking about Tesla's future in the wake of today's Model 3 release.
By the end of today, 30 individuals are going to receive the keys to their purchased Model 3s. The market is paying attention, with many investors already popping the champagne. So much hype has been generated by the Model 3 that many investors assume the car's release will send the already overvalued stock skyrocketing.
Analysts have a different perspective. Though analysts' opinions of Tesla vary (even in our own office, the opinions range from bullish to bearish), everyone agrees that the Model 3 is a turning point for the company.
The car is the culmination of CEO Elon Musk's 15-year car mission. It's the longest-gestating technology that's ever been promised to hungry consumers. And if Tesla fails to meet the demand, it could get ugly for stockholders and investors.
That's why to celebrate the release of the Model 3, we decided to talk to one of our editors who's been with Tesla from the start — Jeff Siegel.
Jeff is a proud Tesla fan and urged his investors to buy the stock at around $40. When Tesla became "overvalued," Jeff sold, protecting returns. He continues to promote Tesla as a company in his Green Chip Stocks publication.
I interviewed Jeff for our podcast and decided to ask him some of the questions that prompt many investors to be speculative of Tesla, including:
- Can the company survive the seemingly imminent lithium battery shortage?
- Is Tesla overvalued because of Musk's maneuvering?
- Does Tesla's future hinge on the Model 3? Or is this just a small hurdle for a company meant for grander things?
For those of you who are unfamiliar with our Tesla coverage, I invite you to check out some of our most popular pieces from it. Our editors have been following Tesla closely since the start of its 15-year mission, meaning that they can offer a wide range of knowledge about the company, where it's going, and its competitors.
