America Just Found a Massive Tungsten Deposit
For years, we’ve been warning that America has a critical-minerals problem…
We built the world’s largest economy, the world’s most advanced military, and some of the most sophisticated manufacturing industries on Earth.
But somewhere along the way, we stopped producing many of the raw materials that make those things possible.
And tungsten is one of the clearest examples…
The United States hasn’t mined tungsten commercially since 2015.
Yet we still need it for cutting tools, drilling equipment, aerospace components, electronics, weapons, armor-piercing ammunition, and a long list of other industrial and defense applications.
So we’ve become dependent on foreign suppliers…
And unfortunately, the country that dominates the world’s tungsten supply is China.
And that’s why a new discovery in Nevada could turn out to be much more important than another big mineral find…
You see, a privately held American company called 3 Proton Lithium, or 3PL, says it has identified roughly 1.78 million metric tons of tungsten beneath its Railroad Valley project in Nevada.
If those estimates hold up and the resource can eventually be developed economically, America may have just found an enormous domestic source of one of the metals it can least afford to keep buying from its geopolitical rivals.
The Metal Behind Modern Industry
Tungsten doesn’t get the attention that copper, lithium, or rare earth elements do. But that doesn’t make it any less important…
Tungsten is extremely hard, dense, heat resistant, and wear resistant. Those properties make it uniquely useful in applications where ordinary metals simply don’t hold up.
Manufacturers use it in machine tools, drill bits, cutting equipment, wear-resistant components, electronics, and high-temperature applications.
The military uses tungsten because of those same properties. Its density and hardness make it valuable in armor-piercing penetrators, ammunition, missile components, high-density alloys, and other defense systems.
In other words, tungsten helps us build things. And it helps us defend them, too.
And that’s why it’s such a dangerous material to outsource…
America can design the world’s best weapons system.
We can build the world’s most advanced factory.
We can spend hundreds of billions of dollars rebuilding our industrial base…
But those investments don’t mean much if another country controls the raw materials needed to keep them operating.

China Has the Advantage
China currently dominates global tungsten production and supply. And that’s not by accident…
China spent decades building its mining, processing, and refining industries while much of the Western world moved in the opposite direction.
And the end result is an enormous strategic advantage that Beijing has already demonstrated it’s willing to use as geopolitical leverage…
China began tightening controls on tungsten exports in 2025, and those restrictions helped create a severe global supply squeeze.
By January 2026, tungsten prices had surged to record levels as industrial buyers competed for limited supply.
China subsequently restricted the number of companies permitted to export tungsten during 2026 and 2027, further constraining the market.
And that’s exactly the kind of situation we’ve been warning about…
This isn’t simply a commodity-price story. It’s resource nationalism.
Countries increasingly recognize that controlling strategic materials can be nearly as powerful as controlling advanced technologies themselves.
Because you don’t necessarily need to prevent your rival from building a missile if you can make it harder for them to obtain the materials required to manufacture one.
America Suddenly Looks Vulnerable
The United States is finally starting to respond…
On August 6, the Commerce Department announced restrictions designed to keep tungsten-containing scrap inside the country rather than allowing that material to be exported.
Beginning August 27, tungsten scrap will generally have to be allocated to domestic buyers, with limited exemptions available.
Think about what that tells us…
America is so concerned about securing tungsten that we’re now taking steps to prevent material we’ve already used from leaving the country.
We’re essentially digging through our own industrial waste stream looking for supply.
That’s useful because recycling absolutely needs to be part of the solution.
But recycling doesn’t replace mining.
And that’s why what 3PL says it found beneath Nevada matters so much.
A Giant Resource in Our Own Backyard
3PL controls a massive mineral position in Nevada’s Railroad Valley totaling more than 58 square miles, or about 37,350 acres.
The project was originally associated primarily with lithium exploration. But Railroad Valley appears to contain much more than lithium…
Researchers have identified tungsten, boron, rare earth elements, and other strategically important materials throughout the basin.
And now tungsten may be emerging as one of the project’s most valuable assets.
The current estimate of approximately 1.78 million metric tons would make this an enormous American tungsten resource if further exploration confirms it.
And importantly, this isn’t somewhere halfway around the world. It’s in Nevada.
That’s the difference between mineral wealth and mineral security…
Finding resources domestically gives America the possibility of controlling more of its own supply chain, from extraction to processing to manufacturing.
It doesn’t mean we get that supply tomorrow. Mining projects take years to permit, finance, build, and bring into production.
And Railroad Valley faces an unusual hurdle because NASA uses part of the area for satellite calibration, which has resulted in federal restrictions on mining activity across a portion of the basin.
Those issues still need to be resolved. But geology is the first requirement…
You can’t build a domestic tungsten industry without domestic tungsten.
And America may have just found a lot of it.
This Is Bigger Than One Deposit
That’s what investors should really take away from this story…
We’re entering a new era in natural resources.
For decades, America prioritized the cheapest possible supply. But now we’re beginning to prioritize secure supply.
And those aren’t always the same thing…
A tungsten mine in Nevada might cost more to develop than a mine somewhere in Asia.
But the calculation changes when the alternative is relying on a geopolitical rival capable of restricting exports whenever relations deteriorate.
The Pentagon understands this. Washington understands this. American manufacturers are beginning to understand it…
And capital is starting to follow.
The United States is rebuilding supply chains for rare earths, lithium, uranium, antimony, tungsten, and other materials that were ignored or outsourced for decades.
That process won’t happen overnight. But it creates an investment trend that could last for years…
Because bringing mining back is only part of the solution.
America also needs companies that can process these materials, refine them, recycle them, and turn them into usable products.
That’s where some of the most interesting opportunities may emerge.
Breaking China’s Stranglehold
3PL itself is privately held, so ordinary investors can’t simply buy shares and participate directly in the Railroad Valley tungsten story.
But that doesn’t mean investors have to sit on the sidelines.
We’ve identified another little-known company (that retail investors actually can buy) that’s working on the same enormous problem…
Breaking China’s stranglehold over the critical materials America needs for defense and industry.
It’s positioned directly in the rebuilding of a Western supply chain that Washington increasingly views as a national security priority.
And because it’s still relatively small and largely overlooked by Wall Street, we believe the potential opportunity could be much larger than investors realize.
So we’ve put together a special report explaining the company, the resource opportunity, and why the race to rebuild America’s critical-minerals industry could put it in an unusually powerful position.

The discovery beneath Railroad Valley is another reminder that America may have far more strategic mineral wealth than most investors realize.
The problem was never necessarily that we didn’t have the resources. It’s that for decades, we stopped mining them.
But China didn’t.
Now the consequences of that decision are becoming impossible to ignore.
And as America works to reverse it, the companies helping rebuild these forgotten supply chains could become some of the biggest beneficiaries of the next great resource boom.
