Silver's Next Bull Run Could Make This Year's Record Profits Look Small

If you bought silver at the end of 2025, you’ve probably experienced just about every emotion an investor can have.

Excitement. Euphoria. Anxiety. Panic. And maybe a little regret…

After an incredible rally carried silver above $120 an ounce in January, the precious metal came crashing back to Earth.

By mid-October, it was trading around $57 an ounce, more than 50% below its peak.

That’s the kind of decline that can convince even the most committed investors that the party is over. But here’s the thing…

Some of Wall Street’s biggest banks are predicting that silver could climb back to $75 or $80 an ounce in 2027.

And at least one has suggested that another run toward $100 isn’t out of the question.

That’s great news for silver investors. But I think there’s an even bigger opportunity developing in the companies that actually produce the stuff…

Because while everyone else has been obsessing over silver’s spectacular rise and subsequent collapse, silver miners have been making money hand over fist.

And if Wall Street’s forecasts are accurate, they’re about to make a whole lot more.

Wall Street Is Betting on Another Silver Rally

Now, I don’t put much faith in Wall Street’s ability to predict exactly where a commodity will trade 12 months from now. Nobody knows that for sure.

But when multiple major financial institutions start projecting substantially higher prices, it’s worth paying attention…

UBS has forecast silver reaching $75 an ounce during the first half of 2027. Bank of America has also projected $75 silver during the second and third quarters.

ING is even more optimistic, calling for an average price of $79 throughout the year. And Commerzbank sees silver reaching $80 by the end of 2027.

Bank of America has even entertained the possibility of silver making another run above $100, although its analysts don’t necessarily expect those prices to stick.

So we’re looking at forecasts that suggest silver could appreciate approximately 30%–40% from its recent levels.

That’s an attractive potential return. But silver doesn’t have to return to $120 or even to $100 for its producers to make extraordinary amounts of money.

In fact, some are doing exactly that right now. And the reason comes down to a little something called operating leverage…

Why a 40% Silver Rally Could Mean Much Bigger Profits

Mining is an expensive business.

You’ve got equipment, labor, energy, transportation, processing facilities, maintenance, and all the other costs associated with digging valuable minerals out of the ground.

And those expenses don’t necessarily change all that much just because the market price of silver changes.

Once a mining company covers its production costs, much of the additional revenue from higher silver prices can flow toward its bottom line.

Consider a hypothetical silver mine producing 10 million ounces a year at an all-in sustaining cost of $30 per ounce.

With silver at $50, that mine generates a simplified operating margin of $20 per ounce, or $200 million annually (10 million ounces times $20 per ounce).

But what happens if silver climbs to $80?

Assuming production and costs remain unchanged, that mine’s margin jumps to $50 per ounce. And suddenly we’re looking at $500 million annually.

Silver increased 60%. But the mine’s operating margin increased 150%.

And if silver reaches $100? That same mine could generate $700 million in annual operating margin.

That’s 250% more than it generated with silver at $50.

Now, those are simplified calculations because actual earnings and free cash flow depend on taxes, financing costs, capital spending, and other factors.

But the underlying principle is very real.

A relatively modest increase in the price of silver can produce an enormous increase in a mining company’s profitability.

Of course, that leverage works in both directions. But established silver producers are already demonstrating just how powerful it can be.

The Profits Are Already Pouring In

Take First Majestic Silver…

During the second quarter of 2026, the company generated $415.5 million in revenue, a 57% increase from the previous year.

Pretty impressive. But its operating earnings didn’t increase 57%…

They increased 353%, jumping from $49.4 million to $223.6 million.

Meanwhile, free cash flow surged 150%, to $194.6 million.

And First Majestic isn’t the only company enjoying this profitability boom.

Pan American Silver generated approximately $344 million in attributable free cash flow during the second quarter and returned a record $300 million to shareholders.

Think about that for a minute…

Silver has suffered a massive correction from its January highs, yet established producers have been generating extraordinary amounts of cash.

Now, those results benefited from second-quarter silver prices that were higher than today’s levels. So, there’s no guarantee the next quarter will look as good.

But the point is that these businesses don’t need silver at $120 to be highly profitable.

And if the metal recovers toward $80 in 2027, many could see their earnings and cash flows expand dramatically, assuming they keep production costs under control.

Silver’s Supply Problem Isn’t Going Away

According to the Silver Institute, 2026 is expected to mark the sixth consecutive year in which global silver demand exceeded supply.

The organization projected a deficit of approximately 67 million ounces this year.

And while higher prices encourage recycling, substitution, and new production, there’s a problem with bringing additional silver supplies to market…

You can’t build a mine overnight.

Developing a new operation can take a decade or longer, particularly when permitting, financing, and infrastructure requirements are involved.

Meanwhile, silver remains an essential component of everything from electronics and automobiles to electrical infrastructure and telecommunications equipment.

Even the artificial intelligence revolution requires vast amounts of electrical equipment that uses silver.

That creates an advantage for established producers with operating mines…

They don’t have to wait years to bring new projects online. They’re already producing silver, collecting revenue, and generating cash.

And if prices climb, many can benefit almost immediately.

Follow the Earnings, Not the Headlines

There’s an old Wall Street saying that the stock market is a voting machine in the short term but a weighing machine in the long term.

In other words, stock prices can do some pretty ridiculous things over short periods.

Fear, greed, speculation, and headlines can push valuations far above or below what the underlying businesses justify.

But in the long run, it’s fundamentals that matter.

And companies that consistently produce more earnings and cash flow tend to command higher valuations over time.

That’s what makes the silver mining industry so interesting right now…

Investors are still fixated on how far silver has fallen from its January peak. Meanwhile, some of the companies producing that silver are reporting tremendous profits.

And if prices recover toward the $75–$80 levels Wall Street is forecasting for 2027, those profits could grow practically exponentially.

But that doesn’t mean every silver mining stock is a buy.

Some operations are expensive, some carry too much debt, and others face political or geological risks that can overwhelm even the strongest commodity market.

But for well-managed producers with healthy balance sheets and reasonable operating costs, the potential is enormous.

And here’s the question I think investors ought to be asking…

If silver miners are making record profits with silver well below its peak, what could their earnings look like with silver at $80?

More importantly, what happens to their share prices when Wall Street starts adjusting its earnings forecasts to reflect those higher profits?

Because while silver itself could deliver impressive gains in 2027, the companies digging it out of the ground could deliver something much bigger.

And that’s where I’ll be looking for opportunities.
