Last week, Las Vegas hosted the largest security trade show in the United States.

Sponsored by the Security Industry Association (SIA), ISC West is the largest converged security event of the year, and it was filled with attendees from all over the world exploring the show floor, attending informative educational sessions and speeches, and checking out the highly educational featured exhibits.

The Sands, which hosted the trade show, was bustling with people networking with their peers, discussing some of the most pressing and pervasive cyber-physical security threats of our age, and learning how the show’s featured technologies can combat them.

Sherida Sessa, Industry Vice President of ISC Security Events at Reed Exhibitions, said of the event:

ISC West is the largest converged security even of the year for a reason. Security professionals from all over the world get the rare chance to come together under one roof, bounce ideas off each other and see the newest and most innovative cyber and physical security solutions debuting in the market.

They also get to set precious time aside to learn during educational sessions lead [sic] by their peers, giving them tactical solutions to take back home and implement.

We attract the best and the brightest minds in security and are thrilled to be able to offer these opportunities, year after year, and provide a pivotal jumping-off point for startups entering the scene.

Attendees were absolutely buzzing about SIA’s product showcase this year, where over 120 new product entries, alongside returning companies, were pitched to leading industry experts.

This elite group of rising security products and services was on display, where buyers can discover them and interact with the companies behind them.

One Single Company is the Best and the Brightest

A tiny developer of a revolutionary concealed weapons system was one of the returning headliners at ISC West this year.

Last year, this small Canadian company won the 2017 Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection category of the Security Industry Association’s New Product Showcase.

This revolutionary technology is a completely unique Cognitive Microwave Radar (CMR) that can covertly detect the shape and material of any concealed object, especially weapons.

The material composition on the shape of a concealed object — a weapon, for example — will give a unique resonance signature. So as that signature comes back, the computer compares that information to a vast database of signatures of different types of weapons.

If it calculates that there’s a high probability the object is a weapon, it immediately alerts the security team. And it does so all in a fraction of a second.

Then it’s up to the client, whether it’s a hotel or a school or a business, to respond how they see fit, from locking down an area to approaching the suspect.

It can be installed at key access points in any building or facility, creating an instant alert that triggers a security response to help deter, detect, and defend against any active threats to public safety.

This device is a first-of-its-kind effective tool to combat active shooter threats before they occur.

Built for cost-effective deployment in weapon-restricted buildings and facilities, this software solution and related hardware can be installed in hallways and doorways to covertly identify weapons from smartphones and to discretely alert security of an active threat entering the premises.

Some establishments have already implemented this technology into their everyday workings. The Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino was one of the first to perform tests with this system, even before the tragic Route 91 Harvest Festival mass shooting, which resulted in the deaths of 58 festivalgoers.

The company says it’s also conducting tests in several schools and businesses around the world and hopes to launch the system worldwide by the end of this year.

Deter, Detect, and Defend

I know I’ve talked to you about this company many times before, but I do it for good reason.

The company’s motto, “Deter, Detect and Defend,” is based on the belief that widespread use of its technology will act an effective deterrent, thereby diminishing the epidemic phenomenon of active shooters not just here in the United States, but around the entire world.

Us parents will no longer have to worry about sending our children to school, hoping and praying that our little ones come home to us safely.

We as a society have become numb to the multitude of mass shootings that occur all too frequently.

This one-of-a-kind system holds the power to restore public safety and peace of mind — for good this time.

My colleague, Alex Koyfman, has compiled an entire presentation on this revolutionary company and its award-winning, life-saving technology.

Trust me, you don’t want to miss out on this.
