The Constitution is NOT Optional!

constitutionThe hypocrisy in Washington is unbearable!

Last year, California Senator Dianne Feinstein, rejected a White House panel suggestion that the NSA end bulk collection of Americans’ phone data.

Despite the whole program being completely unconstitutional, Feinstein insisted that the NSA’s practices have safeguarded the nation without trampling on civil liberties.

Seriously?!

Feinstein also told reporters that what keeps her up at night is another attack against the United States.

Yeah, me too. But not from outsiders. I’m more fearful of continued attacks against the United States from within. Particularly in the sewage tanks that run from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue down to the Capitol Building.

Regardless, Senator Feinstein was certainly a strong supporter of the NSA’s program to spy on any American at any time, for any reason (or no reason at all). So it’s not surprising that my blood pressure rose quite dramatically after reading that the same Senator who supported the unconstitutional spying on Americans is now upset that the CIA has been spying on Congress.

As reported by the Associated Press. . .

The head of the Senate Intelligence Committee accused the CIA on Tuesday of criminal activity in improperly searching a computer network set up for lawmakers investigating allegations that the agency used torture in terrorism investigations during George W. Bush’s administration.

Democrat Dianne Feinstein, in a lengthy speech on the Senate floor, publicly aired an intense dispute between the CIA and Congress that was previously acknowledged only by anonymous officials in press reports. She said the matter has been referred to the Justice Department for further investigation.

Both Feinstein and the CIA have accused each other’s staffs of improper behavior. She said she had “grave concerns that the CIA’s search may well have violated the separation of powers principles embodied in the United States Constitution.”

The Constitution is not optional. You either support and defend it or you don’t.

If any of these bums in Washington don’t defend it, just as their job descriptions require, then there is no reason they shouldn’t be sent packing.

If you don’t adhere to your job description at McDonalds, you get fired. But in Washington, you get a campaign contribution.

I don’t know the Senator, but the mere fact that she can support the NSA spying on Americans but can’t stomach her colleagues being illegally monitored makes me question her intentions. She clearly doesn’t seem to care about the Constitution. If she did, she wouldn’t have bowed at the alter of the NSA.

I doubt she’ll ever be voted out of office. But if she does, it’ll be a good day for liberty.
