I Want to Hear Your Story

I’ve told this story many times before. I’ll tell it again.

In May 2020, Maryland was still in a full lockdown over COVID. We weren’t allowed to meet with family or friends.

But my wife and I did anyway. The Hicks clan was in an open rebellion over the COVID mandates.

My daughters would drive to the nearest park to meet their friends. They would sit on the hoods of their cars 10 feet away from their friends who were doing the same. And there, they would talk, laugh, and try to be normal.

Two weeks to flatten the curve became two months.

Two months has turned into two years. Right now New York City is urging people to mask up again. After two years.

Last week, the WHO called for the world to mask up again…

WHO covid masking

I’m currently in Longboat Key, Florida. Life here is normal. If you want to wear a mask, you can. Nobody cares. Most people don’t, though.

Getting dinner reservations is difficult. It’s crowded. There’s no longer a “low season.” Beaches are packed. (Remember when the experts told us that walking on a beach was dangerous?)

I play pickleball almost every day.

My wife and I have met so many people on the pickleball courts who have recently moved from Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, and Canada. Yes, lots of Canadians.

And they all have a similar story: They wanted to get away from the COVID lockdowns and restrictions of their respective states.

When I brought my wife and kids to Longboat Key in late May 2020, many of our family and friends thought we were reckless. They literally shamed us, said Florida and Gov. DeSantis didn’t care about their citizens.

We were told we were part of the problem. We needed to listen to the experts.

We lost friends over this.

I watched friends sink into deep depressions. Heard horror stories about husbands and wives fighting over whether to allow their children to come home from college.

Earlier this year, my 17-year-old daughter tested positive for COVID even though she’s fully vaccinated. She cried.

My wife and I didn’t treat her any differently. Why would we?

A week later, my wife and I tested positive. I had a headache for two days. That’s it. I’m also not vaccinated. Neither is my wife.

Whenever the government pushes hard for you to comply with their decisions, always ask why.

I’m an open book. And I want you too to be one.

I want to hear how you navigated the COVID lockdowns. I want to hear how you kept yourself and your family sane. And if you have a horror story to tell, I want to hear that too.

I will post your stories if you give me permission.

If you have a story to tell, simply reply to this email. I can't promise that I'll post all of them, but I will publish what I can.

It’s good to be around friends.

P.S. There's a nasal spray that could be the breakthrough we’ve been waiting for to finally end the pandemic once and for all. It’s expected to be even BETTER than the vaccine, taking only seven days to kill the COVID virus and stop symptoms. This medication is already in Phase 2 of FDA trials, and if it gets fast-track approval, this stock could rise by many multiples over the next several months. Check out this small biotech company.
