Fourth Amendment Violation

In Alabama, you can sell your right to privacy for $10.

I’m not kidding.Freedom Watch

It was reported this week that off-duty police officers in the Yellowhammer State set up roadblocks in an effort to collect saliva and blood samples from drivers.

Law enforcement officials have been quick to point out that the DNA collections were completely voluntary, and those wishing not to participate were free to move along. As well, they have assured those participating that the samples are completely anonymous.

So, what do you think? Are you ready to hand over your DNA (anonymously, of course) to law enforcement for ten bucks? Some deal, huh?

Don’t worry, your license plate couldn’t possibly help them to identify you…

And it’s all for a good cause: to help the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) get a better understanding of inebriation patterns.

The Gift of Freedom

If you don’t live in Alabama, but you’re still ready to sell your right to privacy for ten bucks, there’s good news: The NHTSA is planning to roll this program out to more than 50 additional locations across the country this year.

I have to say it really does amaze me at how quickly folks in this country are willing to give up their Constitutional Rights…

All over the world, people are being slaughtered in an attempt to gain just a fraction of the liberty we have been so fortunate to inherit in this country. And here we are, so arrogant and so ungrateful for the gift of freedom that we’re willing to pawn it for beer money.

It’s sickening.

You know, last week was the 24th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square protests, where close to one million brave, freedom-starved Chinese took to the streets and demanded government accountability and freedom of speech.

The result? 300,000 troops swooped in and fired on unarmed civilians. Martial law was alive and well.

And if you were alive back then, I’m quite certain you remember this iconic moment:

That is the price of freedom!

The Greatest Threat to Freedom is…

Although we may not fear 59 Chinese tanks rolling through our city streets, make no mistake; our most basic rights are under attack: reporters being investigated by White House officials for exposing scandals, legislation designed to water down the Second Amendment, the IRS and the NSA trampling the Fourth Amendment as if it was nothing more than an afterthought, and federal thugs disregarding states’ rights because they mistakenly believe they have the authority to do so.

What the hell is going on?!

We actually have politicians on both sides of the aisle calling whistle-blowers terrorists… calling for their arrest, prosecution, and even execution.

At what point did we decide that those who expose treason are our enemies?

This cannot stand if we have any intention of honoring our responsibilities as American citizens to protect and defend the Constitution.

As Thomas Jefferson wrote to Massachusetts Governor James Sullivan in 1805:

The man who loves his country on its own account, and not merely for its trappings of interest or power, can never be divorced from it, can never refuse to come forward when he finds that she is engaged in dangers which he has the means of warding off.

Over the next few weeks, there’s going to be an avalanche of both criticism and support of illegal and highly unethical attempts to invade your privacy. From monitoring your phone calls and emails to tracking your daily commutes, Republicans and Democrats will create the illusion of debate and concern with the hopes that after enough time has passed, you’ll find something else to focus on.

Don’t let that happen.

Thomas Jefferson also said that lethargy is the forerunner of death to the public liberty. There is much truth to that, as we’re clearly witnessing right now.

And you can share these thoughts with others and even utilize the comments section below to speak out. Just consider this platform as a simple way to exercise your First Amendment right.

Because let’s face it; if we don’t exercise these rights, we will lose them.

And quite frankly, that would make us no less responsible for the destruction of this Great Democracy than the treasonous vultures who perch themselves above the halls of Congress, waiting patiently to feast upon the remains of the Constitution.

Live honorably, live free…
