Despite the global recession, Austrian jeweler Peter Aloisson has designed and is currently marketing the world's most expensive gold iPhone.

The new gold iPhone, named Kings Button, is constructed of 18 carat yellow gold, white gold, and rose gold. The gold iPhone is also encrusted with a total of 138 brilliant cut diamonds of the best quality with an approximate weight of 5.5 carats.

The most striking feature of Aloisson's new gold iPhone, however, is the main home button. The home button on Aloisson's gold iPhone, is a blinding 6.6 carat mega-diamond. This, of course, is where the gold iPhone gets its name Kings Button.

The price tag for the extravagant Kings Button gold iPhone... a whopping €1.8 million ($2.4 million).

Peter Aloisson launched his first luxury mobile phone in 1998 and also produces a range of exclusive interior design items and add-on phone jewelery made from gold.

Other Gold iPhones

Aloisson has designed other gold iPhones, including the Princess, which boast 18-carat white gold and rhodium trim and is encrusted with 138 princess cut and 180 brilliant cut diamonds, with a total weight of up 17.75 carats.

The Princess gold iPhone is priced at a more reasonable, but still insane, €120,000 ($160,000).

Other designers of gold iPhones include Continental Mobiles and Goldstriker International. Both company's offer gold iPhones constructed with 18 and 24 carat yellow gold, white gold, and rose gold. Continental Mobiles has gold iPhones prices up to £1,250, or $1,850, while Goldstriker's gold iPhones are priced up to £1,600, or $2,375.

Other gold iPhone accessories include the Case-Mate Diamond Case which is an 18 carat gold iPhone case that is encrusted with 42 diamonds with a total weight of 3.5 carats. The Case-Mate diamond and gold iPhone case retails for $20,000.

A $2.5 million Gold iPhone is the most squanderous item ever. Despite the fact that it does look pretty cool, anyone who pays $2.5 million for a Gold iPhone is a blundering idiot or complete jerk.

Yeah right, that's exactly what we need right now...a $2.5 million Gold iPhone. (sarcasm)
